Eric J Freeh, D.O.

Eric J Freeh, D.O. arrived from Phoenix in 1996 to join Alamogordo Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon, with subspecialty fellowship training in trauma and fracture care. He has achieved national recognition as a true expert in the field. As a faculty member of the International Trauma Society, the AO Foundation (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen), he is frequently invited to give lectures and instruction on trauma care and surgical technique to orthopedic residents and surgeons. You can always count on Dr. Freeh understanding the most current treatment
options available in the world today. Right here in Alamogordo you can truly expect world class care!

Dr. Freeh actually assisted in the training process of Dr. Dodson, the founding member of Alamogordo Orthopedics. They spent time together in Phoenix while Dr. Dodson was in medical school. They were both more than ecstatic to renew their friendship as peers when Dr. Freeh relocated to Alamogordo from his very successful practice in Arizona. His experience in Phoenix was invaluable as a member of the orthopedic group that took care of the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes, spring training camp for the Oakland A's and the Seattle Mariners, as well as many local high schools and colleges.
Along with his highly regarded fracture care treatment, Dr. Freeh also enjoys many other aspects of orthopedic surgery including sports medicine. He is the only surgeon in this area that has mastered arthroscopy of the shoulder. He also performs arthroscopy of the knee and enjoys surgery of the hands and upper extremities, frequently taking care of such problems as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, ganglion cysts, arthritis, meniscal tears and ligamentous injuries.

Dr. Freeh is one of the founding members of the Southern New Mexico Surgery Center, a two time winner of the APEX Quality Award from CTQ solutions. His professional ratings from patients are quite exemplary. Dr. Freeh is known in the area as a surgeon that takes time to listen. He then creates an orthopedic game plan with the patient that strives to achieve rapid healing and return to routine activities such as sports, hobbies and occupation.

For those that don't know, Dr. Freeh is an excellent musician, playing many string instruments such as guitar, mandolin, banjo and ukulele. He has truly enjoyed passing on that love to his children. His knowledge base on antique cars is also impressive, and in addition to knowing about cars, he enjoys his hobby of fixing up and rebuilding cars of many types. This is also a great source of "family time" for him.

Allan F Rickman MD

Allan Rickman is a native of Alamogordo, NM, and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1975. He attended Lubbock Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1978. Following his graduation, he worked in the office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque, NM, until attending medical school at the University of New Mexico in 1981. In 1985 after graduating from medical school with a Doctor of Medicine, he went to Phoenix, Arizona, where he did his internship and residency at Maricopa Medical Center. In 1991 he moved back to Alamogordo, NM, where he joined Alamogordo Surgical Associates practicing general surgery. During his time practicing general surgery in Alamogordo, there were no orthopedic surgeons. As a result, he also took call and cared for the orthopedic injuries in the area including open reduction/internal fixation of multiple fractures. During this time, he decided that he would prefer to pursue more of a carrier in the orthopedic aspect of medicine. After reviewing options regarding this, he went to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1997 and did fellowship training with Horizon Orthopedic Group. This group was the orthopedic group which cared for the Cleveland Indians. During his time with Horizon Orthopedics, he spent significant time training in non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. In July, 1998, he returned back to Alamogordo and joined Alamogordo Orthopedics and Sports Medicine where he has continued to work with non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine. Many of the patients that he has seen in his practice since 1998 have included Workers' Compensation patients. He did receive certification as an independent medical examiner. He initially was trained using the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 5th Edition. He subsequently went back and was recertified in independent medical examination using the 6th edition. He has performed numerous permanent partial impairment ratings since that time and continues to work diligently with Workers' Compensation patients in an attempt to return them to work as soon as possible with the best possible outcomes.
